The Chateau's motto is "For the tables of Kings and the Altars of Gods" - if you are looking for a claret with pedigree, you cannot go far wrong with this timeless classic.
Chateau d'Issan is reported to have been served at the marriage of Alienor d'Aquitane and Henry Plantagenet during the Middle Ages. There are records of Chateau d'Issan kept in the cellars of The Price of Wales during the 18th Century and in the late 19th century the Emperor Franz-Joseph of Austria thought so highly of this wine that he regularly served it at court.
Chateau d'Issan Margaux, 3eme Cru Classe 2002/3 75cl
Currently extremely youthful with a dark ruby/purple colour, as well as a sweet nose of cassis and spring flowers. Although this wine will never be muscular or exceptionally concentrated, it overdelivers with a stylish, elegant, and well crafted harmony among its structural components.
